Ara does not subscribe to The New Zealand Herald but if you need articles in the Herald you can access these through Press Reader if you belong to Christchurch City Libraries.
Search A-Z Databases to find Australia NZ Reference Centre database which has articles from many NZ newspapers.
Filter your search to "last 5 years" and Newspapers (domestic) for local and national news articles.
You can also search specific news websites that are open access in Google using the site: command
e.g. institutional racism site: https://www.stuff.co.nz
